Spread the love

Yesterday, we came together for the renewal of hope for our nation’s future as we celebrate Martin Luther King Day or Civil Rights Day on the 18th. We believe that the main driving force behind the civil rights movement is hope. This social hero became the image of a campaign that was based on the premise that this country can be a better place if we all join, unite, and work together to make it a better place.

Martin Luther King referred to a most pressing problem in humanity’s situation, and it involved poverty of spirit that is in direct contrast to our advancement in science and technology. Together, we must aim to rekindle and preserve the camaraderie that bonded this country into one. The campaign, however, is not limited to this day, or to this month. We ought to incorporate the values MLK fought for into our daily lives, corporate environments, and social relationships. This, we believe, helps us appreciate life a little more.

With that, let’s revisit MLK’s famous I Have a Dream speech with this excerpt:

“This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day — this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim’s pride, From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.”
